These terms cover your use of the Old Man Genius website at oldmangenius.com and, where they apply, the apps we offer. They are written in plain language. They are not a promise about features a product does not have.
Acceptance of terms
By using this website, or by using an Old Man Genius app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or the app. If you use a product on behalf of someone else, including a child in your care, you are responsible for that use.
Services
Old Man Genius builds simple digital tools. This website introduces the brand and links to our products. Our current product is 5 Min Storybook, which lets you create personalized children’s stories designed for approximately five minutes of reading. “5 Min” refers to that approximate reading time. It does not mean a story is created in five minutes. Features can differ by product, and a description on this site is a summary, not a guarantee of every screen inside an app.
User responsibilities
You are responsible for how you use the site and our apps. Use them lawfully, and only with information you have a right to share. If a product is meant for a parent or caregiver to use with a child, use it that way. You are responsible for the details you enter, including names, themes, or other content you ask a product to use.
Accounts
This website does not require an account. Depending on the services you use, an app may. If you create an account, keep your sign-in details private and tell us if you believe someone else is using them without permission. You are responsible for activity that happens through an account you control.
Intellectual property
The Old Man Genius name, this website’s design and text, product names including 5 Min Storybook, and the software we provide remain ours or our licensors’, except for content you submit. You may not copy our branding, site, or apps for your own product, or suggest that we endorse you, without permission. If an app creates a story or other output from details you provide, you may use that output for personal, non-commercial family use unless a specific product says otherwise. That permission does not transfer ownership of the app itself.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the site or our apps. That includes trying to break, scrape in a way that harms the service, overload, reverse engineer where the law does not allow it, or use a product to harm someone, to infringe someone else’s rights, or to create unlawful content. We may refuse or limit access if we believe use is abusive or unsafe.
Third-party services
Our sites and apps may rely on other companies for hosting, sign-in, payments, or advertising. Those services have their own terms. A link to another website, including a product on a subdomain, does not make us responsible for that destination beyond what we actually operate.
Service availability
We try to keep our sites and apps available, but we do not guarantee that they will always be up, fast, or free of errors. Features can be interrupted for maintenance, hosting issues, or changes we choose to make. We may add, change, or remove a feature.
Disclaimer
The website and apps are provided as they are. Stories and other generated content can be imperfect. They are for personal enjoyment and everyday use, not for professional, medical, legal, or educational advice. We do not promise that a story, or any other output, will fit every child, preference, or situation.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Old Man Genius is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or apps. If we are liable for something, that liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific product in the three months before the claim, or to zero if you did not pay us. Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Changes to services
We may update, pause, or discontinue a site or app, or a part of one. We will not invent a notice obligation that we cannot keep, but significant changes to a paid product, if we offer one, should be explained in that product where practical.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continuing to use the site or an app after an update means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service.
